Athlos Academy Hires Top Executive

Athlos Academy of St. Cloud has hired a leader from a Minneapolis charter school to be its executive director.

Kathy Mortensen, who previously served as executive director and acting superintendent of Minneapolis Academy Charter School will lead Athlos Academy, a tuition-free public charter school, into its first year this fall in St. Cloud.

Turning Athlos Schools into Talent Hotbeds

This month Athlos staff read The Talent Code by Daniel Coyle and discussed how we can incorporate principles from the book in order to turn Athlos schools into “talent hotbeds.” The premise of The Talent Code is that talent is not a natural gift, but rather something that can be taught. This book happens to be a favorite of mine. I’ve read it multiple times now, and each time I come away from it with a new understanding.

Athlos Academy of Utah Starts Construction on New School

Athlos staff recently enjoyed a highly engaging book club discussion on The Boys in the Boat by Daniel James Brown. This phenomenal story of the 1936 U.S. men’s Olympic rowing team is a great showcase of the three Athlos Pillars of Performance.
