Athlos Academies buys Macy’s building in Downtown Boise

An Idaho company that provides services to charter schools has bought the old Macy’s building in Downtown Boise.

The building, at the corner of 10th and Main streets, had been owned by partners Brad Elg, Jeff Shneider and David Wali, who bought it for $1 million in 2011 intending to develop affordable housing there. The buyer is Boise’s Athlos Academies, founded in 2006 by partners Ryan Van Alfen and Jason Kotter.

Athlos Academies to move into long-vacant downtown Boise building

BOISE – Athlos Academies, an Idaho-based education service provider, has announced it has purchased the long-vacant C.C. Anderson Building in downtown Boise.

The former Macy’s department store, located on 10th and Idaho streets, will be renovated and used to house the organization’s operations and host teacher training for school leaders and educators from across the country.

Athlos Academies assists four schools in transitioning facility ownership

BOISE – Athlos Academies, an Idaho-based education service provider, assisted four Texas charter schools into ownership of their facilities by their local school board. The social venture organization has provided financing, land acquisition, design, and construction services to over 20 charter schools across the country. This funding solution saves scarce resources that can then be invested in classroom instruction.

Athlos charter school teaches athletes

SAN ANTONIO – The Athlos Leadership Academy’s motto is “Healthy Body, Prepared Mind” because the school is devoted to physical fitness and athletics. Principal Israel Rios said the 12 1/2-acre campus on Chandler Road campus has had a positive impact on the neighborhood and on the children who are lucky enough to gain enrollment there.
