Character Ambassadors Offer Encouragement, Helping Hand

At Athlos Leadership Academy in Brownsville, TX, a group of high school students called the Character Ambassadors strive to make a positive impact on their school and community. These outstanding students consistently take part in events, volunteer within the community, and do good deeds, all while displaying Athlos Performance Character traits like leadership, integrity, and optimism. Not only do they make an impact through their efforts and engagement, but they also serve as excellent examples of Performance Character for their classmates, peers, and the larger community.

Here’s a look at some of the great accomplishments of the Character Ambassadors over the past three months.

Lifting Spirits

Testing time can be stressful, and the Character Ambassadors, practicing initiative, leadership, and creativity, went out of their way to show support and encouragement for their peers. The group spent a Saturday at the school writing notes of inspiration for all students taking the state assessments in April. A day before testing began, the Character Ambassadors visited classrooms and handed out notes to their peers as well as well as goodies and treats to keep them energized during testing. This was a great gesture appreciated by the students as they entered testing.

Volunteering for a Cause

The Character Ambassadors are always looking for ways to give back and not only in their schools. This group of students also spends their time helping in the community. At the beginning of April, the Character Ambassadors volunteered at a St. Jude’s Fundraiser in Harlingen, TX. Earlier in February, the group visited Spanish Meadows, a rehabilitation center, assisted living facility, and long-term care nursing unit in Brownsville, TX. During their visit, they spent time with residents playing loteria, a game similar to bingo, but played with images and a deck of cards.

Keep up the great work Character Ambassadors!
